China’s leading IC manufacturer SMIC donated nearly RMB40 million ($5.75 million) to liver transplant program with its partners, which has saved 725 needy children from all over the country, said the firm’s chairman Gao Yonggang at a ceremony marking the tenth anniversary of the program on December 7.
SMIC Liver Transplant Program was set up in April 2013 in cooperation with Shanghai Jiao Tong University School of Medicine’s Renji Hospital and China Soong Ching Ling Foundation.
This year, there was RMB5.71 million ($820,000)donated to the program, the largest amount during the ten years, including RMB2 million ($287,460) from SMIC, RMB430,000 ($61,803) from its employees, and RMB3.28 million ($471,430) from 92 SMIC's partners, said Gao at the ceremony.
