The US Air Force said on Tuesday that it was investigating the circumstances surrounding human remains that were found in the wheel well of one of its C-17s that flew out of Kabul.

In a statement, the Air Force said that a C-17 aircraft landed at Kabul's airport on Monday and was surrounded by hundreds of Afghan civilians.

I have noticed the world pays great attention to the current situation in Afghanistan and the US responsibility in this regard. Whether the US policy on Afghanistan has failed, and whether US allies would find the country unreliable, I believe the US and relevant countries will do their own thinking and come to conclusions.

但坦率讲，昨天以来，大家在电视和网络上看到关于喀布尔机场的混乱画面，特别是有人急于跟随美撤离却不幸从美方飞机起落架上摔下身亡的视频，都感到非常震惊。喀布尔机场这几天的混乱似曾相识，让人感慨万千。

But to be honest, people have been shocked by the chaotic scenes at the Kabul airport on television and the internet since yesterday, especially the video clips capturing some unfortunately falling to their deaths after clinging to the landing gear of a US aircraft to evacuate.

For 20 years, more than 100,000 Afghan civilians have been killed or wounded in the gunfire of US troops and its ally forces, and more than 10 million people have been displaced. The Afghan War caused an average loss of $60 million on a daily basis, putting a drag on the socioeconomic development of Afghanistan. The US troops have also paid the price of more than 2,400 deaths and over two trillion dollars.

我注意到拜登总统讲，美在阿富汗的政策目标不是重建。这倒也是句实话。因为无论是在伊拉克、叙利亚、还是阿富汗，我们看到美军所到之处，留下的都是动荡分裂、家破人亡，留下千疮百孔的烂摊子。美国的力量和作用是破坏，不是建设。正如昨晚王毅国务委员应约同美国务卿布林肯通话时所强调的，事实再次证明，军事干预、强权政治不得人心，终将失败。把外来模式生搬硬套到历史文化及国情截然不同的国家水土不服，最终难以立足。用强权及军事手段解决问题只会使问题越来越多。

I also noticed that President Biden said, the US mission in Afghanistan was never supposed to have been nation building. This is the truth. Wherever the US sets foot, be it Iraq, Syria or Afghanistan, we see turbulence, division, broken families, deaths and other scars in the mess it has left. The US power and role is destructive rather than constructive. As State Councilor Wang Yi stressed in his phone call with US Secretary of State Antony Blinken last night, facts have proved again that military intervention and power politics win no support and are doomed to fail. A model copied from another country can hardly fit or stand in a country with distinctively different history, culture and national conditions. Solving problems with power and military means would only lead to even more problems.

我也注意到拜登总统在讲话中表示，不会再犯对别国内战投入过多精力，通过无休止军事干预重塑其他国家的错误。希望美方能对其动辄军事干预、穷兵黩武的政策做出认真反思，停止打着民主、人权的幌子肆意干涉他国内政，破坏他国和地区和平稳定。

I also noticed President Biden said in his remarks that he will not repeat the mistake of doubling down on a civil war in a foreign country, or attempting to remake a country through the endless military deployments of US forces. We hope the US could seriously reflect on its willful military intervention and belligerent policy, stop using democracy and human rights as an excuse to arbitrarily interfere in other countries' internal affairs and undermine peace and stability in other countries and regions.
