A draft amendment to China's Population and Family Planning Law will be submitted to an upcoming session next month of the Standing Committee of the National People's Congress (NPC) for its deliberation, according to a statement issued on Tuesday. Earlier in June, the Communist Party of China Central Committee and the State Council have released a decision on improving birth policies to promote long-term and balanced population development, noting that the country will support couples who wish to have a third child and will implement relevant supporting measures.
人口与计划生育法修正草案拟提请8月召开的十三届全国人大常委会第三十次会议审议。今年6月，中共中央、国务院颁布了关于优化生育政策促进人口长期均衡发展的决定，明确提出要实施三孩生育政策及配套支持措施。
The International Monetary Fund (IMF) Tuesday revised China's economy projection to 8.1 percent in 2021 and 5.7 percent in 2022, down 0.3 percent and up 0.1 percent respectively, compared to the IMF's April prediction.

Updates on COVID-19.疫情简报
Chinese mainland reported 55 new local cases yesterday, 48 from Jiangsu Province, three from Sichuan Province, two from Yunnan Province and two from Liaoning Province. Cases in Chengdu in Sichuan province and Dalian in Liaoning province all have travel history in Zhangjiajie, Hunan province. Nanjing has reported a total of 153 local cases since the recent outbreak.

SinoVac on Monday disclosed the clinical trial results of the third dose of its CoronaVac for adults aged 18-59. The results showed a third, booster shot of the SinoVac Covid-19 vaccine resulted in significant increases in antibody levels without serious adverse reactions.

CPC Leads a Century’s Progress.建党百年，开创新局
China has made great progress in scientific and technological innovation in recent years as the country has substantially increased funding for basic research, with an average annual growth rate of 16.9 percent. The spending on basic research has reached 6 percent of the total research and development (R&D) spending. And the number of citations of China's high-level academic papers in 12 fields including materials science, chemistry, engineering technology, mathematics and physics ranked among the top two in the world, making it the second-largest contributor of high-quality scientific and technological papers in the world. Regional innovation hubs are taking the lead in innovation-driven development. The total economic output created by the high-tech zones across China accounted for more than 12 percent of the whole country in 2020.

The combined profits of China's state-owned enterprises (SOEs) reached around 2.39 trillion yuan in the first half of this year, up 110 percent year on year, according to the Ministry of Finance.

Tutoring stocks also saw gains in the Hong Kong stock market and A-share. New Oriental picked up 9.71 percent and Scholar Education climbed 4.05 percent. Only Education rose 3.36 percent.

Investors continued to sell China Evergrande Group’s stock Tuesday as the debt-ridden property giant scrapped a planned special dividend and after global rating agency S&P cut its credit rating. Stock of Evergrande Group slipped 0.17 percent today to close at HK$5.8.
7月26日晚间，标普宣布将中国恒大及旗下恒大地产、天基控股的公司评级从“B+”下调至“B-”，将相关美元债长期发行评级从“B”下调至“CCC+”。中国恒大港股继续下挫，收报5.8港元，跌0.17%。

Chinese stocks continued to close lower on Wednesday with the benchmark Shanghai Composite Index sliding 0.58 percent at 3361 points. The Shenzhen Component Index closed 0.05 percent lower at 14086 points.
