前几天，华为CEO任正非在接受CNN的采访时表示，为女儿能成为中美贸易战的筹码而骄傲。罐头菌这里不谈政治，倒是这里的“筹码”，大家知道应该怎么翻译吗？
1.chip 筹码
说起chips，大家一般只会想起薯条或者薯片，但很少人知道，其实chip也能表示赌场上作赌注用的“筹码”。因此，对于筹码的翻译，我们可以直接用chip来表示。
Huawei CEO says his daughter should be proud she became a 'bargaining chip' in the trade war.
华为CEO表示，他的女儿应该为能成为贸易中的“交易筹码”而感到骄傲。
2.when the chips are down 至关重要的时刻
上面说到，既然chip能表示“筹码”，那么when the chips are down，就是“当筹码被押下去的那一刻”，也就是“最激动人心，最关键，最重要的时刻”。
I knew you would come and help when the chips were down.
我就知道在最重要的时刻，你回来帮忙。
3.chip away 拆除
上面说的“薯条，薯片”以及“筹码”，都是chip的名词翻译，而作为动词，chip还能表示“打碎，弄破”的意思。同理，chip away，则表示“拆除，击碎，削弱”。
We won't be able to move this huge rock until we chip away at it and make it smaller.
我们不能移开这块巨大的石头，因此我们把它击碎成小石块。
4.chip in
chip in作为动词，有两个意思，都具有“插入”的意向
（1）打断说话，插嘴
第一个意思主要表示“插入”话语
When I heard them discussing my department, I just had to chip in with my own suggestions.
他我听到他们在讨论我的部门时，我不得不插话补充我的意见。
（2）筹钱
第二个意思主要表示“插入”钱财
If everyone chips in to help, we can clean this garage in no time.
假如每个人都筹钱帮忙，那我们不用多久就能清理好这个车库。
