8月30日起，广东潮汕普降大雨，树香村约2500名村民被困。视频显示：有村民对着救援队大喊：“快来救救我们，两三天没吃饭了。”据救援队队长称，树香村断水断电24小时以上。据汕头市应急办，截至9月1日8时，受灾人数达87.9万。
