而曾经的咸阳也成为县制，位置也飘忽不定，但现在的咸阳市区肯定不是以前的咸阳城，而是在咸阳城旧址向西十公里左右重新修的新城，而且还不是连贯的，而不论是距离还是传承，如今的西安都是与咸阳紧密联系的！而如今的咸阳市城区则更多的是照顾历史名城的产物！
