胡慧中不像别的打女如杨紫琼有舞蹈基础，而是由一窍不通苦练出来，虽不如人家打得精彩，至少也有板有眼。而且每逢危险镜头都亲自上阵，直至1989年拍摄《猎魔群英》时，被严重烧伤，后期的影片多用替身。
