The Jumping Jester
夜幕开始降临，
让我们的故事陪伴孩子，
做一只可爱的小绵羊，
听好故事，增长见识，睡个好觉。
The Jumping Jester
Jack the Jester loved to jump.
He jumped on the chairs.
He jumped on the table.
小丑杰克喜欢跳来跳去。
他一会儿跳到椅子上。
他一会儿跳到桌子上。
He made the people laugh.
他逗得大家哈哈大笑。
But sometimes, people didn't laugh.
Sometimes Jack broke things.
"Stop that jumping!" said the maid.
但有时候，人们却笑不出来了。
因为杰克有时会打碎东西。
女仆叫道：“别跳了！”
Sometimes Jack spilled things.
"Stop that jumping!" said the cook.
有时候，杰克会弄泼东西。
厨师叫道：“别跳了！”
Sometimes Jack knocked things over.
"Stop that jumping!" said the children.
有时候，杰克会撞倒东西。
孩子们叫道：“别跳了！”
"That jester must stop jumping,"
everyone said.
大家都说：“那小丑必须停下来。”
The king sent for the jester.
"You must stop jumping," said the king.
"But I love jumping," said Jack.
"I'm sorry," said the king.
"This jumping has to stop."
国王派人叫来了杰克。
国王说：“你不许再跳来跳去了。”
杰克说：“但我喜欢跳来跳去的。”
国王说：“很抱歉！你必须停止。”
So Jack the Jester stopped jumping.
He was very sad.
于是，小丑杰克再也不能跳了。
他非常伤心。
The maid was sad, too.
She stopped cleaning.
The cook was sad, too.
He stopped cooking.
女仆也很伤心。
她不在打扫房间了。
厨师也很伤心。
他不再做饭了。
The children were sad, too.
They stopped playing.
Soon, everyone in the palace was sad.
They all stopped laughing.
孩子们也很伤心。
他们不想再玩了。
很快，王宫里的每个人都变得伤心。
他们再也不笑了。
"We need something to make us laugh again," said the queen.
"The jumping jester made people laugh,"
said the children.
王后说：“我们需要一些东西让我们笑起来。”
孩子们说：“爱跳的小丑能逗得大家开心地笑起来。”
So the queen sent for the jester.
"Please start jumping again," she said.
"It makes us laugh."
于是，王后派人去找小丑。
她说：“请再开始跳起来吧，这会逗得大家开心地笑起来。”
The jester was so happy, he jumped in the air.
He jumped over a chair and onto the table.
小丑很开心，他立刻跳起来，一跳就跳到了半空中。
他跳过了一把椅子，接着跳上桌子。
He broke the plates.
He spilled the soup.
He knocked over the glasses.
他打碎了盘子。
他泼翻了汤。
他撞倒了玻璃杯。
Everyone laughed and laughed,
and the jester went on jumping.
所有人都开心地笑起来，
小丑继续不停地跳来跳去。
