The Beijing-Harbin High-Speed Railway, a 1,198 kilometer line linking Beijing with Harbin, the capital of Northeast China's Heilongjiang province, will mark its 5th anniversary on Jan. 22, 2026.
As the world's first long-distance high-speed railway designed to operate in extremely cold conditions, it has demonstrated remarkable safety and reliability over the past five years. This success can be attributed to China's growing technological strength, continuous innovation and sound management, which together ensure smooth and efficient operation along the busy northeast corridor.
At the forefront of this achievement is the Chaoyang Electric Multiple Unit (EMU) operations workshop in Beijing, one of the country's most advanced training bases for high-speed train drivers. Equipped with simulation systems and immersive digital technology, the center provides hands-on training that mirrors real-world operating conditions across the high-speed network.
