Our puppy, Bell, hopped and jumped like a big rabbit! It was the funniest
sight. But as Bell got bigger, friends did not like her jumping on them. Bell had to take lessons to behave better.
We taught Bell to sit. This was not the hardest lesson for Bell. Dogs will
sit if you hand them dog bones for sitting. We would hold a dog bone high up. “Sit!” Every time Bell sat, we gave our puppy a dog bone. “Good dog!” We did this lots of times. Bell was getting lots of bones. Then we gave Bell harder lessons. Bell must stop and not go when told “Stay.”

Let me tell a tale about Will the white whale. Will is as big as a bus, but
he is quite nice. Will is not a fish, but he swims like one. He likes swimming on his back and splashing with his fin. Will likes jumping up. Then he makes a huge splash. Will has fun gliding on the wide waves.
When the wind stopped and the ship got stuck, Will helped. Will pulled it to the dock. Sid the Shrimp is Will’s best friend. Big Will hides little Sid from big hunting fish. Will got a friend that is a fine match. His friend’s name is El. Will is glad that he met El. Will and El splash side by side. They wave to ships that pass them.

Farmer Brown has a problem. His cows like to type. All day long he hears
Click, Clack, Moo. Click, Clack, Moo. Clickety, Clack, Moo. At first, he couldn’t believe his ears. Cows that type? Impossible! Click, Clack, Moo. Click, Clack, Moo. Clickety, Clack, Moo.
Then, he couldn’t believe his eyes:
Dear Farmer Brown, the barn is very cold at night. We’d like some electric blankets. Sincerely,
The cows.
It was bad enough the cows had found the old typewriter in the barn, but now they wanted electric blankets! “No way,” said Farmer Brown. “No electric blankets.” So the cows went on strike. They left a note on the barn door: Sorry. We’re closed. No milk today.
Sally was petting her cat. Her cat’s name is Kitty. Kitty is a large black cat. Sally ran her finger down Kitty’s back. She loved her cat. Her cat smelled like shampoo. She had been washed that morning.
Cats do not like water. Kitty, on the other hand, liked water. Kitty was a friendly cat. Sally was on her bed. Kitty fell asleep. Sally was thirsty. She did not want to wake up Kitty. She picked up her cell phone. She called her little brother. She whispered into the phone and said, “Get me a glass of water, please.” Her brother said okay. He was downstairs watching television. He went to the kitchen. He got a glass of water. He took it upstairs to his sister’s room. He did not know Kitty was asleep.

I used to be so young. I used to be so strong. My roar used to be so big. But now… I am old and weak. My roar is small. I can’t run. I can’t hunt. Poor me! The Lion is very sad and worried.
I’m hungry. But now how can I get some food? I must think of a way fast. Let me think. The Lion thinks and thinks. Finally, he comes up with an idea.
Hey, wait. I still have my sharp teeth and claws. I can use them. Once an animal comes into my cave, I can catch it. Yes, that’s it! I’ll say I’m very sick. Then all of the animals will come to visit me. Once they come into my cave, I will eat them all. What a clever idea!
The sky was already dark and full of stars when Elmer, the patchwork elephant, heard the sound of crying. It was Baby Elephant.
“He can’t sleep,” said Baby Elephant’s mother. “He wants his teddy. We took Teddy with us on a picnic and somewhere we lost it.” “Never mind,” said Elmer. “I’ll lend him my teddy. Tomorrow I’ll look for the lost one.” Elmer went away and came back with his teddy. Baby Elephant smiled and was soon fast asleep with Elmer’s teddy beside him.
The next day Elmer set off in search of the lost teddy. He hadn’t gone far when he met his cousin, Wilbur. “Hello, Wilbur,” said Elmer. “I’m looking for Baby Elephant’s lost teddy. Have you seen it?” “No,” said Wilbur. “But if I find it, I’ll call you.”
