苑文光，1948年2月生于天津，祖籍山东掖县。青年时期曾赴内蒙古土右旗下乡插队，后就读于包头五七师范，取得大专学历。
1974年任职包头市第九中学，中学高级教师，主讲历史，同时兼任书法教师。
深耕翰墨，博习诸体，尤擅草书，凭借自学在各类书画赛事中屡获金奖。受聘北京市林都书画研究院常务理事、北京大学书画艺术研究院客座教授。
