8月17日，LG电子在一份声明中表示，已在巴西巴拉那州开设一家新的家电工厂，投资额约3.1亿美元，这是该公司在巴西的第二个生产基地。
LG电子表示，该工厂年产能约为60万台冰箱。该工厂初期将服务于巴西国内市场，后期计划作为面向拉丁美洲的生产和出口枢纽。
