继推出用户名功能后，WhatsApp又允许用户在添加联系人姓名和手机号时，一并保存对方的用户名。新增的用户名字段位于“名字/姓氏”输入框与“手机号”区域之间。 用户可打开“聊天”标签页，点击顶部导航栏中的“+”按钮来添加新联系人。据WABetaInfo报道，等用户名功能全面上线后，当用户通过聊天信息界面创建新联系人时，WhatsApp会自动填好用户名字段。
