王文东出生于1975年，曾长期在天水师范大学前任天水师范学院工作，担任过该校科研处处长，教务处处长，党委常委、副院长。
2021年9月，王文东调任陇南市委常委、宣传部部长；至迟于2022年4月，王文东任天水市委常委、宣传部部长至今。
前任天水师范大学党委副书记、校长汪聚应出生于1966年1月，已于2026年5月卸任。
