7月28日下午7.1级强震发生后，日本熊本县嘉岛町“永旺梦乐城熊本”商场坍塌。当地时间28日18时，购物中心还传出爆炸声。
7月29日，看看新闻Knews记者宋看看抵达该购物中心附近。据购物中心方面消息，购物中心外的液化气罐完好，是燃气输送管道发生爆炸，消防人员及在场民众闻到"煤气味"。
