西江是长江故道，安庆西江长江江豚迁地保护基地这一经闸站与长江干流相连的开阔水域，为江豚提供了栖息家园。作为长江中下游重要的江豚救护繁育科研基地，安庆市持续推进长江江豚迁地保护，加快生态修复，改善江豚栖息环境，今年以来，新增小江豚2头，目前西江江豚种群数量已达27头。（记者 谢芸）
