北京时间6月24日，在世界杯小组赛第二轮的比赛中，首轮1-0击败巴拿马的加纳以0-0的比分与英格兰战平，目前1胜1平位列L组赛第二。
赛后根据Opta的统计，加纳也就此成为了历史上第四支单届世界杯前两场全部完成零封的非洲球队。此前三支达成过这一成就的非洲球队分别是为摩洛哥(1986年和2022年)、喀麦隆(1982年)以及尼日利亚(2014年)。
