China has emerged as the global leader in clean energy industries, reshaping the trajectory of the energy transition worldwide. This talk examines the rapid rise of China’s electric vehicle (EV) industry. I discuss how coordinated industrial policies, consumer incentives, and rapid expansion of charging infrastructure helped scale early adoption. Over time, intense competition, learning-by-doing in battery production, and a dense, clustered supply chain drove down costs and improved quality. The interaction between policy and market forces offers important lessons for accelerating clean energy transitions in other countries.

主讲人简介

李善军，斯坦福大学多尔可持续发展学院 Steven and Roberta Denning 讲席教授，担任斯坦福中国经济与制度研究中心（SCCEI）可持续与能源转型项目主任。曾任康奈尔大学戴森应用经济与管理学院 Kenneth L. Robinson 讲席教授，康奈尔中国经济研究所主任。其主要研究领域包括环境与能源经济学、城市与交通经济学、经验产业组织以及中国经济，在能源转型、环境治理、交通政策与清洁能源产业发展等方面作出了重要贡献。其研究成果发表于 American Economic Review、Review of Economic Studies、International Economic Review、Journal of Public Economics、Review of Economics and Statistics、Journal of Urban Economics、Management Science等国际顶级学术期刊。李善军教授现任 Journal of Public Economics 与 International Journal of Industrial Organization 联合主编，China Economic Review 副主编，同时担任美国国家经济研究局（NBER）研究员及未来资源研究所（RFF）大学研究员。
