斗草是植根华夏大地的传统民俗游戏，流传千年，藏着独属于古代市井与深闺的鲜活意趣。盛唐诗歌繁荣，诸多诗人以笔墨记录下斗草嬉游的生动画面，将少女闲情、四时风物、民间乐事尽数写进诗行。本文精选十四首唐代经典斗草诗作配上英译，还原传统民俗本貌，解读唐诗里独有的东方闲情雅趣。
值得指出的是，唐代斗草分为两种玩法：
一是“武斗”（斗草茎）：两人各持一根草茎交叉拉扯，草茎先断者落败，类似草茎拔河，英文译作 stem tug-of-war，多为孩童、乡间百姓游玩；
二是“文斗”（对草名）：众人采摘各色花草，轮流报出花草名目，比拼花草数量与稀有程度，不靠拉扯，比拼见识，译为 grass-stem contest，深受宫廷女子、仕女喜爱。
本次收录诗作同时涵盖两种场景，兼顾民间与宫廷风貌。既有武斗也有文斗，民间百姓和儿童玩的斗草游戏，基本属于武斗。而文人雅士、淑女名媛、上流社会流行的是文斗。诗作中两类场景并存，以信达雅和功能对等、少归化、无异化为翻译准则：
