5月27日，据报道，法国博罗雷集团（Bolloré）首席执行官Cyrille Bolloré敦促环球音乐集团拒绝比尔·阿克曼的收购提议，称该报价低估了唱片公司的价值，且不符合其长期战略。
此前据媒体报道，美国对冲基金大鳄比尔·阿克曼旗下的潘兴广场宣布，计划以现金加股票方式以大约558亿欧元（约合644亿美元）的价格收购环球音乐集团（UMG），并已提交一项不具约束力的要约。
