据“衡阳发布”微信公众号消息，5月24日，祁东县应急管理局发布情况通报，内容如下：
5月24日0时45分，衡阳市祁东县上正社区一商铺发生火灾，造成5人死亡，1人受轻微伤，伤者正在积极救治，无生命危险。
相关善后工作和事故原因调查正在开展中。
