5月18日零时21分，柳州市柳南区遭遇5.2级地震，张哥弟被垮塌的砖墙压住动弹不得。覃炳线等5名周边群众发现后立即冲进废墟，拼尽全力将其救出。5月21日晚，覃炳线等人来到医院探望张哥弟，张哥弟的妻子见到恩人当场下跪致谢。
