5月4日9时许，香港警方接获湾仔皇后大道东246号一酒店的职员报案，称有人由高处坠下倒地。警方赶往现场，发现是一名女子坠楼，砸中另一名女路人。坠楼女子当场死亡，而被砸中的女路人受伤但仍有意识，由救护车送往玛丽医院治疗。
此外，该名女子坠下时，导致酒店玻璃碎裂，碎片击中三名女路人及一名男童，分别送往律敦治医院治疗。
