Jenna Ortega最近在Kid Cudi的播客里自曝，18岁那年差点把演艺生涯一键删除。刚从迪士尼儿童剧《Stuck in the Middle》下车，她像个刚被踢出新手村的玩家—— casting director一个都不认识她，简历投出去全是已读不回。
「it just felt like a good time to call it quits if I was going to.」她跟团队聊了整整几个月的退出计划，连退路都想好了：反正高中刚开学，当个普通学生好像也不错。
2019年事情突然转弯。Netflix thriller《You》第二季给她递了Ellie Alves这个角色，Joe Goldberg那个毒舌邻居。进组第一天她就意识到完蛋了——「Yeah, there's no way I could let this go.」
这之后的故事大家都熟：《Scream》三部曲、《Beetlejuice》续集，再到2022年让她提名艾美金球SAG的《Wednesday》。但Ortega说现在反而更怕闲下来，刚过去的四个月长假把她吓得够呛，「I kind of drive myself crazy」。现在假期收尾，她倒是终于学会了一件事：原来自己真的喜欢这份工作，不只是害怕停下来。
