据中国地震台网正式测定：3月25日22时53分在内蒙古锡林郭勒盟多伦县（北纬42.47度，东经116.76度）发生4.2级地震，震源深度12千米。
当地养殖户虎子介绍，地震发生前牛只状态一切正常，地震突发时牛群瞬间受惊，部分牛只四处乱窜，部分受惊站立。此次地震震感明显，持续时间约8至10秒。
