World's first open-source quantum OS available for download

Quantum computer operating system Origin Pilot, independently developed by Origin Quantum, was made available for global online download on Feb. 24. First launched in 2021, it is the world's first open-source quantum operating system, designed to lower development barriers and accelerate the autonomous development of China's quantum computing ecosystem. Users can now download it from the company's official website and deploy it locally with an automation script, with 30-day free trial.

As the operating system of a quantum computer, Origin Pilot handles core functions such as resource scheduling and hardware-software collaboration. It also supports parallel quantum task execution and automatic qubit calibration, significantly improving overall operational efficiency.

Since its initial launch, Origin Pilot has undergone multiple iterations to become an advanced system integrating quantum computing, supercomputing, and AI. It is compatible with mainstream technological pathways, including superconducting, ion trap, and neutral atom architectures, and is currently deployed on Origin Quantum's "Origin Wukong" series of quantum computers. Unlike international offerings that primarily consist of quantum programming frameworks and cloud services, Origin Pilot provides an open, unified programming interface and a standardized driver system. This allows research institutions, universities, and developers worldwide to easily access China's domestically developed quantum OS, perform local deployment, and execute quantum computing tasks on chips based on different physical systems, meeting both scientific and commercial needs.

In recent years, the Hefei National High-tech Industry Development Zone has actively developed quantum technology, accelerating the cultivation of the quantum industry and driving a wave of original breakthroughs.
