Protests have erupted across Europe and North America against military strikes by the United States and Israel on Iran since February 28. Demonstrators in cities including London and Paris called for an immediate ceasefire and urged their governments not to support the conflict. In contrast, some European governments are increasing military deployments in the Middle East. TheAnalyst say Europe faces an awkward position: while public opinion opposes the strikes, alliance ties with Washington limit policy choices. As a result, Europe’s military moves are seen largely as symbolic efforts to show presence rather than decisively influence the conflict.
