中国通用技术集团在津设立中纺院（天津）公司，联合天津科技大学、浙江理工大学，组建了“生物基纤维材料全国重点实验室”，中国工程院院士程博闻担任主任。目前，中纺院正在围绕C919大飞机轮胎、人工皮肤等前沿领域展开攻关。今年，还将在经开区建设投产新产线。
