当地时间2月19日，美国总统特朗普接受记者采访时，被问及美伊达成协议的最后期限。他表示，“10到15天的时间足够了，差不多是极限了”。当天，特朗普还在华盛顿美国和平研究所举行所谓“和平委员会”首次会议并发表演讲，强调伊朗必须与美国达成“有意义的协议”，否则“将会发生不好的事”。
