2月18日14时24分许，宜城市郑集镇的干和烟花爆竹专营店发生烟花爆炸起火严重事故，造成12人死亡。关于过火面积，官方最新通报的数据为100余平方米。
事发后，应急、消防、卫健等部门迅速赶赴现场救援，明火已于当日15时30分被扑灭。
目前，事故的具体原因仍在进一步调查中。
