王老汉、李老汉一同走在路上闲聊着。王老汉吸完烟，磕了磕烟斗便搭在背上。由于烟灰没磕净，引燃了身上棉衣。李老汉发现后问王老汉：“管闲事好不好”。王老汉说：“管闲事落是非，当然不好”。不长时间王老汉觉得背上烤得疼，这才发觉棉衣着了火，便生气地问李老汉：“你怎么不和我说一声。”李老汉说：“我问过你，你说管闲事不好，我便没吭声”。
