Nilo Brighton, a pair of residences by Tom Robertson Architects in Brighton East, redefines family living with a thoughtful floor plan that balances light-filled communal spaces and private retreats. The 440m² project draws inspiration from the bayside setting, with a façade composed of parallel faces of light brickwork, timber cladding, and batten window screens. A secure gate leads to a linear landscaped courtyard, concealing the private entry and setting a tone of seclusion amid the suburban context. Every element of the exterior speaks to harmony with the surroundings, blending contemporary design with coastal charm.

Inside, the building’s robust exterior gives way to flowing, warm spaces defined by abundant sunlight, timber floors, and warm timber veneer joinery. Brick blade walls extend from the outside in, creating a seamless material dialogue between interior and exterior. This continuity fosters a sense of grounding, while the light-filled interiors feel airy and open. The contrast between the sturdy brick and soft timber creates a sensory balance, offering both durability and comfort—a home that feels both rooted and welcoming, perfect for everyday family life.

步入室内，建筑坚实的外立面逐渐过渡为流畅温暖的空间，充足的阳光、木质地板与温润的木皮细木工共同勾勒出空间质感。片状砖墙从室外延伸至室内，在内外之间构建起连贯的材质对话。这种连续性带来了稳固的归属感，而采光充足的室内则显得通透开阔。坚固的砖石与柔软的木材形成感官对比，既保障了耐用性，又增添了舒适感 —— 这座住宅既扎根大地，又充满亲和力，完美适配日常家庭生活。

A defining feature of each residence is the central courtyard, a bold departure from the traditional rear outdoor space. Surrounded by kitchen, dining, and living zones, these courtyards become the heart of the home, fostering visual and physical connections between spaces. Natural light floods the interiors through floor-to-ceiling windows facing the courtyard, while garden outlooks bring nature into daily life. Whether enjoying a meal with family or relaxing with a book, the courtyard serves as a tranquil backdrop, enhancing the emotional value of every moment spent at home.
