当地时间6日，菲律宾民防局发言人朱尼·卡斯蒂略表示，今年的第2号台风“西望洋”已经造成至少8人死亡。卡斯蒂略称，目前受灾人数已经超过24万。
菲律宾国家气象局称，“西望洋”已经减弱到热带低压级别，并将在12小时内降级为低压区。截至当地时间2月6日22时，该天气系统的中心在东内格罗斯省附近，其中心附近最大持续风力达每小时45公里，瞬时风力达每小时55公里，正在向西缓慢移动。
