北京时间1月13日凌晨，皇马官方宣布阿隆索下课后，任命卡斯蒂亚主帅阿韦洛亚为一线队主教练。而早在去年12月份，阿隆索就曾给予过阿韦洛亚很高的评价，称其在未来有机会成为主教练。
12月初，时任皇家马德里主教练的哈维-阿隆索表示：“阿韦洛亚做得非常好，将来有机会成为俱乐部主教练。”一个月后，这一预测最终成真。
