北京时间1月8日，北京国安官方宣布蒙哥马利担任球队新任主教练。
早在11年前，蒙哥马利便与国安有过渊源，在2014年3月19日的亚冠小组赛第三轮中，北京国安主场2-1击败中央海岸水手，本场比赛蒙哥马利打满全场，在比赛第92分钟，蒙哥马利飞铲张呈栋吃到黄牌。
