北京时间12月24日，据记者Marc J. Spears报道，本-西蒙斯将暂停NBA生涯，转而从事职业钓鱼运动。
本-西蒙斯在上赛季中期与篮网达成买断协议，成为一名自由球员，并在澄清期过后签约了洛杉矶快船。
作为2016年的状元秀，西蒙斯的职业生涯自离开76人后一路下行，上赛季先后效力于篮网和快船，场均仅贡献5.0分4.7个篮板和5.6次助攻。
