当地时间10月23日，新西兰爆发该国史上规模最大的罢工行动之一，共有大约10万名参与者，新西兰大部分地区陷入瘫痪。当天新西兰多所学校停课，医疗服务机构也缩减了非必要服务。
报道称，新西兰总理拉克森斥表示，罢工是受“政治动机驱动”，反对党则支持此次罢工。
