10月9日是农历八月十八，钱塘江大潮迎来最佳观赏期。上午10点50分左右，钱江潮起潮；12点半左右，大潮抵达海宁塔山坝。
八月十八潮，壮观天下无。据统计，10月9日，海宁钱塘江沿岸观潮游客超14万人。
