评比形式：朗读高手（约90秒）+ 即兴问答（约90秒）

相关说明：选手从现场抽取一篇短文/片段进行朗读（共十篇），要求发音清晰准确，语调自然，通过流利有感情地朗读，使所读内容的内涵得到更好的体现。考查重点为语音、语调、理解能力、精神风貌。评委根据朗读情况即兴对朗读内容以及相关话题进行提问，选手应充分理解朗读内容，自信主动的与评委进行沟通。准备时间约180秒。

Some hunters were chasing a fox. The fox saw a woodcutter, and asked him for help."Please hide me, kind woodcutter," the fox said. The woodcutter told the fox to go into his house.

Soon the hunters came.They asked the woodcutter, "Did you see a fox?" The woodcutter said, "No," but pointed to his house. The hunters didn't know why the woodcutter pointed. They went away.

After a while, the fox came out of the house. The fox didn't say "Thank you." The woodcutter got angry at the fox."Why don't you say thank you?" he asked."I wanted to thank you,"the fox said."But I saw you signal to the hunters. Your words did not match your actions."

China is the only place where wild giant pandas live.They live in mountain forests. There are only about 1,600 wild giant pandas in China. All giant pandas eat a plant called bamboo. Bamboo grows in the mountain forests in China. More people are cutting down the forests. Without bamboo, giant pandas cannot survive.

Tian Tian eats bamboo. He can eat 40 pounds of bamboo every day. He also eats biscuits.He eats special fruit popsicles, too.

Tian Tian is very big and strong. He weighs 275 pounds.That's as much as 34 cats. Tian Tian turned eight years old in 2005. He became a father in 2005, too.His baby was born at the zoo.The baby is growing strong like Tian Tian. Tian Tian stays strong by playing.He plays with toys. He also plays in trees.Do you like to play？How is Tian Tian like you？

It was my wife’s idea to come here.She said, "You need a vacation. Leave it to me." So I did.She made all the reservations. It was a big surprise! Most people think that a vacation is about resting. You feel tired, so you sleep, you eat, you sit. You rest. I used to think that, too.I used to sit by the pool all day, and eat too much dinner every night.

The funny thing is, on a vacation like that, I didn't get less tired.At home, I sit at a desk all day. At night, I sit in front of the TV. Maybe I eat too much dinner. So what's the difference?The only difference is the place.

This vacation is different. Every day is different, and every day is active. When I was a kid, I used to go out to play. I didn't think about time.It's like that now. Now is enough!

My family lives near the city center. There are tall buildings all around us. Many people live and work in the city.The streets are full of cars and buses. The city doesn't have many grassy places.

But the city park has grass and trees. I go to the park with my mom and dad.My dad and I play catch in the park.My mom and I fly kites in the park.

I love how everything is close in the city. My mom walks me to school.We walk two blocks then go right. Sometimes Sasha walks with us. We walk past Mr.Abul's store. We walk past the bank. All our neighbors wave and say hi. On Saturdays my family likes to go to museums. Sometimes we walk to the art museum. I like the big paintings.

Once upon a time, the animals living on the ground and those flying in the sky fought against each other. However, a bat could not take part on either side because he was timid and had no courage.When the beasts seemed like winning, the bat went to them and said, "I would like to fight with you." They believed him.Yet, the bat began to worry, as the birds started to move ahead. So, the bat went to them and begged, "I am on your side because I am winged, too."

The fight between the birds and the beasts continued and the bat went back and forth to the winning side. Then one day, peace was made in the woods. All the animals determined to expel him. Turned away from both sides, the bat started to live in a dark cave.

"I slept in a tent and I studied bugs and plants. One afternoon, I went for a walk alone and saw the most beautiful bird! I followed it for a while until it suddenly disappeared. Oops! I thought. I was lost and it was getting dark. I tried to sleep under a tree next to a lake, but I couldn't. It was rainy and the animals made loud noises all night.""So, what happened?"Maya asked.

"Well, the next day I was really tired and hungry," he said. "It was foggy in the morning. When it cleared, I saw a bright rainbow and the same beautiful bird! It flew above my head and I decided to follow it again. I felt that it wanted to help me find my way. A little while later, I found my tent again."

Different Forms of Water Most of the water we see is a liquid. Liquid water takes the shape of the container it is in. Not all water is liquid. When water gets very cold, it freezes. It becomes solid. Solid water is called ice. Much of Earth's frozen water is at the North and South Poles. Some of Earth's water is invisible. It is in the air.This water is a gas. Water is always changing.When frozen water is heated, it melts. It changes to a liquid. When liquid water gets cold, it freezes.

A voice called out,"I'll do it!"Everyone moved out of the way as the speaker stepped forward. It was Monkey.

"Are you sure?"asked the gibbon." It looks dangerous." Monkey laughed."I'm not afraid of anything! And when I come back, I will be king!" Monkey took a deep breath and leaped into the waterfall.

Uncle Jason gives me a tour. Just like my house, the fire station has a kitchen, but this kitchen has three refrigerators! That's because firefighters work in twenty-four hour shifts, and each shift has its own refrigerator.Next stop on the tour is Uncle Jason's bedroom. It has a television, couch, and bed. After sleeping, he puts fresh sheets on the bed for the next firefighter.

Next, Uncle Jason shows me the day room. This is where the firefighters hang out after chores are done. I climb into one of the big chairs and watch television with the guys. Most of the time, though, they're busy helping people and making sure their equipment is ready.Next, we go to the most exciting part of the fire station-the garage. Two fire trucks are waiting, ready to handle any emergency.
