截至9月24日8点，台风“桦加沙”外围环流重创台湾花莲县光复乡，马太鞍溪堰塞湖溢流洪水冲入光复乡，死亡人数攀升，目前已致14人死亡、34人受伤、124人失联。
花莲县马太鞍溪堰塞湖在23日下午3点溃堤，包括光复乡、万荣乡、凤林镇等周遭区域无一幸免，光复乡更是水淹到一层楼高，许多车辆都漂在水上。
台媒报道称，罹难者多为住一楼的老人。
