在新疆地质矿产博物馆的门前广场上，摆放着世界第三大陨石。1898年，该陨石在新疆阿勒泰地区青河县境内银牛沟一带被当地群众发现。经鉴定，这颗陨石含铁88.7%、镍9.3%，并含有六种宇宙矿物，因此也成为了驰名世界的珍贵宇宙标本。
