In the north area of Brava Beach in Itajai, Santa Catarina, Brazil, a 405-square-meter apartment lies quietly in a gated community. Architect Simara Mello used stone as paper and wood as ink to write the life trajectory of a couple who love traveling and fine wine into this space facing the sea. The texture of each piece of Roman travertine and the warmth of each inch of oak wood tell a story about homecoming, about love, and about time.

在巴西圣卡塔琳娜州伊塔雅伊的布拉瓦海滩北区，一座 405 平方米的公寓静卧于 gated community 之中。Simara Mello 建筑师以石为纸、以木为墨，将一对爱旅行、嗜美酒的夫妇的生活轨迹，写进了这方面朝大海的空间里。每一块罗马洞石的纹理，每一寸橡木的温度，都在诉说着关于归家、关于热爱、关于时光的故事。

When you open the door, the scent of Roman travertine fills the air. This stone with natural holes spreads from the ground to the wall, and even climbs onto the surface of the furniture. The light yellow background is like beach sand warmed by the sun, and the holes seem to contain the whispers of the sea breeze. When you step on it barefoot, you can feel the unique coolness of the stone, but it is warmed by the sun in the afternoon, just like the temperature difference between day and night on the beach, with a natural breath.

推开门，罗马洞石的气息便漫了过来。这种带着天然孔洞的石材从地面铺展到墙面，甚至爬上家具的表面，浅黄的底色像被阳光晒暖的海滩沙粒，孔洞里仿佛还藏着海风的私语。赤脚踩在上面，能感受到石材特有的微凉，却在午后被阳光晒得温热，如同海滩上昼夜的温差，带着自然的呼吸感。

Accompanying the stone is the ubiquitous natural oak. The lines of the door frames, the edges of the cabinets, and the texture of the furniture all reveal the warmth of wood. When the sun shines through the French windows, the texture of the oak casts tiny shadows on the ground, interweaving with the lines of the travertine, like a symbiotic totem drawn by waves and the beach. This collision of materials gives the space both the tranquility of stone and the softness of wood - just like this couple, who can explore the edges and corners of the world during their journey and embrace the softness of life after returning home.

与石材相伴的是无处不在的天然橡木。门框的线条、柜体的边缘、家具的肌理，都透着木材的温润。阳光穿过落地窗时，橡木的纹理会在地面投下细碎的影子，与洞石的纹路交织，像海浪与沙滩画出的共生图腾。这种材质的碰撞，让空间既有石的沉静，又有木的柔和 —— 就像这对夫妇，既能在旅途中探索世界的棱角，也能在归家后拥抱生活的柔软。

Neutral-toned soft furnishings are the best supporting role for materials. Beige linen sofas and light grey wool carpets quietly set off the authenticity of stone and wood. Touching the fabric of the sofa, you can feel the fineness of the fiber, which forms a wonderful balance with the roughness of the stone. In the evening, the setting sun shines through the glass, dyeing the travertine wall golden red, and the oak furniture emits warm light. The whole space seems to be wrapped in a piece of amber with the salty taste of sea water.

中性色调的软装是材质的最佳配角。米色的亚麻沙发、浅灰的羊毛地毯，都在默默衬托石与木的本真。触摸沙发的布料，能感受到纤维的细腻，与石材的粗犷形成奇妙的平衡。傍晚时分，夕阳透过玻璃将洞石墙面染成金红色，橡木家具则泛起暖光，整个空间像被裹进了一张带着海水咸味的琥珀里。

The living room faces the sea, with Etel's Verônica armchair and Jorge Zalszupin's Lenço coffee table as the protagonists. The armchair's curvature fits the waist and back perfectly, and the couple often raises their glasses here, with the crisp sound of the glasses colliding and the sound of the waves echoing. The wooden surface of the coffee table is rubbed to a shine, and there may still be wine stains on it that were accidentally spilled during a late-night conversation, which is the most authentic mark of life.

客厅面朝大海，Etel 的 Verônica 扶手椅与 Jorge Zalszupin 设计的 Lenço 茶几是这里的主角。扶手椅的弧度刚好贴合腰背，夫妇俩常在这里举杯，酒杯碰撞的脆响与海浪声应和。茶几的木质表面被摩挲得发亮，上面或许还留着某次深夜畅谈时不小心洒下的酒渍，那是生活最真实的印记。

The large kitchen island is the center of the atmosphere. Built-in appliances are hidden in the cabinet, keeping the visual clean, and the retractable cabinet door is the designer's ingenuity - when closed, the kitchen is an independent cooking place; when open, it can be seamlessly connected to the restaurant. When the hostess prepares dinner, the host can lean on the island to help. The Roman travertine countertop can withstand the temperature of the hot pot and make the ingredients look fresher. The curvature of the edge of the island has been repeatedly polished to avoid sharp edges and corners, just like the designer's gentle consideration of the details of life.

厨房的大岛台是烟火气的中心。嵌入式电器藏在柜体里，保持了视觉的整洁，而可伸缩的柜门是设计师的巧思 —— 闭合时，厨房是独立的烹饪场；打开时，又能与餐厅无缝相连。女主人准备晚餐时，男主人可以倚在岛台边帮忙，罗马洞石的台面既耐得住热锅的温度，又衬得食材愈发新鲜。岛台边缘的弧度经过反复打磨，避免了尖锐的棱角，就像设计师对生活细节的温柔考量。

The office is hidden between the living room and the wine cellar, and is a clever node connecting social interaction and privacy. The oak bookcase is from floor to ceiling, and the grids are filled with souvenirs the couple brought back from all over the world: ceramic figurines from Tokyo, copper bookmarks from Paris, and stained glass from Morocco. The desk is next to the window, and you can see the sea level when you look up. During the video conference, you can take a look at the sparkling sea and most of your fatigue will disappear. The lighting design here is very thoughtful. The embedded light strip hangs from the top of the bookcase, which illuminates the books without being dazzling, making it suitable for handling work late at night or flipping through travel albums.

办公室藏在客厅与酒窖之间，是连接社交与私密的巧妙节点。橡木书柜从地面到顶，格子里摆着夫妇俩从世界各地带回的纪念品：东京的陶瓷小人、巴黎的铜质书签、摩洛哥的彩色玻璃。书桌靠窗而设，抬头就能看见海平面，视频会议的间隙望一眼波光粼粼的海，疲惫便消散了大半。这里的灯光设计暗藏心机，嵌入式灯带从书柜顶部垂下，既照亮了书籍，又不刺眼，适合深夜处理工作或翻看旅行相册。

The wine cellar is the couple's spiritual home. It is connected to the office corridor, and behind the glass door are the spoils of their travels around the world - Bordeaux red wine, Chianti from Tuscany, Cabernet Sauvignon from Napa Valley, and each bottle is labeled with a travel label. The wine racks made of Roman travertine have natural curves, and the wine bottles are embedded in them, like memories that have been properly placed by time.

酒窖是夫妇俩的精神自留地。它与办公室走廊相连，玻璃门后藏着他们环游世界的战利品 —— 波尔多的红酒、托斯卡纳的基安蒂、纳帕谷的赤霞珠，每一瓶都贴着旅行的标签。罗马洞石砌成的酒架带着自然的弧度，酒瓶嵌入其中，像被时光妥帖安放的记忆。

The temperature here is always constant at 13℃, and the air is filled with the mixed aroma of oak corks and wine. The male owner likes to choose wine for dinner here on weekend afternoons, running his fingers over the bottle labels and recalling the days of tasting in the winery. The lighting in the wine cellar is a special warm yellow light, which does not affect the quality of the wine and makes the bottle labels clearly visible. Every selection is a dialogue with the past. When friends visit, they will open the glass door to let the aroma of wine fill the living room, blending with the sea breeze and laughter into the most touching way of hospitality.

这里的温度永远恒定在 13℃，空气里弥漫着橡木塞与酒液的混合香气。男主人喜欢在周末的午后在这里挑选晚餐的配酒，手指划过瓶身的标签，回忆起在酒庄品鉴的日子。酒窖的灯光是特制的暖黄光，既不影响酒的品质，又能让瓶身的标签清晰可见，每一次挑选都是一场与过去的对话。当朋友来访，他们会打开玻璃门，让酒香漫进客厅，与海风、与笑声交融成最动人的待客之道。

It took five years for this project to come to fruition. During the three-year shelving period, the couple's ideas continued to grow during their travels, and the designer settled his thoughts while waiting. The choice of Roman travertine came from this period of time - when they saw a wine cellar made of similar stone in a winery in Tuscany, they suddenly realized that this was the "background color of home" in their hearts. This consensus across time has made the material no longer a cold building material, but a carrier of common memories.

这个项目的诞生用了五年。三年的搁置期里，夫妇俩的想法在旅行中不断生长，设计师则在等待中沉淀思考。罗马洞石的选择就来自这段时光 —— 当他们在托斯卡纳的酒庄看到用类似石材砌成的酒窖时，突然明白这就是心中 “家的底色”。这种跨越时间的共识，让材质不再是冰冷的建材，而成了承载共同记忆的载体。

The transformation of the space hides insights into life: a part of the master bedroom cloakroom was split off to form the prototype of a wine cellar; a suite gave way to an open office to meet the needs of remote work; all doors were widened to allow sunlight to pour deeper into every corner. These changes did not show any signs of drastic changes, but rather were more like the natural integration of space and life, just like the tolerance and adaptation that the couple learned during their long journey.

空间的改造藏着对生活的洞察：主卧衣帽间被拆分出一部分，成就了酒窖的雏形；一间套房让位于开放式办公室，满足了远程工作的需求；所有门都被加宽，让阳光能更深地涌入每个角落。这些改动没有大刀阔斧的痕迹，更像是空间与生活的自然磨合，就像夫妇俩在漫长旅途中学会的包容与适应。

The smart home system is a hidden gentleness. The brightness of the lights and the volume of the speakers can be adjusted gently with your fingertips, but never too ostentatious. When you return home in the evening, the lights in the entrance hall will always light up in advance, and the travertine walls will be illuminated softly, as if saying "welcome back". This balance between technology and nature allows convenience without disturbing poetry, just like the sea breeze will never blow away the lines on the beach.

智能家居系统是隐藏的温柔。灯光的明暗、音响的音量，都能通过指尖轻轻调控，却从不过分张扬。傍晚归家时，玄关的灯总会提前亮起，洞石墙面被照得柔和，仿佛在说 “欢迎回来”。这种科技与自然的平衡，让便利不打扰诗意，就像海风从不会吹散沙滩的纹路。

Standing on the balcony of the apartment, watching the waves kissing the beach again and again, I suddenly understood: the design here is never a deliberate pursuit of style, but an honest response to life. The Roman travertine remembers the beach they walked on, the oak hides the wood grain they touched, and every bottle of wine in the wine cellar tells a journey. When the tide rises and falls, when the seasons change, this apartment will be like a pebble polished by time, becoming warmer and more aware of how to protect those stories about love and home.

站在公寓的阳台上，看海浪一遍遍亲吻沙滩，突然懂得：这里的设计从不是对风格的刻意追求，而是对生活的诚实回应。罗马洞石记得他们走过的海滩，橡木藏着他们触摸过的木纹，酒窖里的每一瓶酒都在诉说一段旅程。当潮水涨落、当四季更迭，这座公寓会像一块被时光打磨的卵石，愈发温润，愈发懂得如何守护那些关于爱与归处的故事。
