Siegel表示，托马斯希望自己的合同对标奎克利——5年1.62亿美元，但是篮网的出价都没有超过年薪1500万。
双方巨大的分歧也导致托马斯是今夏最有可能签下资质报价的受限制自由球员，托马斯的资质报价是1年599万美元。
23岁的托马斯上赛季为篮网出战25场，场均贡献24.0分3.3篮板3.8助攻，投篮命中率43.8%，三分命中率34.9%，罚球命中率88.1%。
