第97届奥斯卡颁奖礼致敬缅怀过去一年逝去的电影人，包括郑佩佩、大卫·林奇、玛吉·史密斯、吉恩·哈克曼等。
郑佩佩因在李安执导的武侠电影《卧虎藏龙》（2000年）中饰演“碧眼狐狸”一角，获得了奥斯卡最佳女配角提名。该片还斩获了奥斯卡最佳外语片奖，成为首部获此殊荣的华语电影。此外，郑佩佩也凭借该角色获得了2001年香港电影金像奖最佳女配角奖。
