当地时间1月23日，加拿大创新、科学和工业部长弗朗索瓦-菲利普·尚帕涅（Francois-Philippe Champagne）致信亚马逊公司称，亚马逊公司决定关闭在魁北克省的所有仓库并裁员1900多人，这将促使政府审查目前与亚马逊的交易。尚帕涅敦促亚马逊方重新考虑这一决定。
