南非警方14日发表声明说，在西北部斯蒂尔方丹营救被困非法矿工的行动中，发现36具矿工遗体。
警方说，营救行动从13日开始，已救出82名生还者。这些矿工将面临非法采矿、违反移民法、非法拥有黄金等指控。目前营救行动仍在继续。
