9月13日，戴维斯杯珠海赛区比赛继续进行。C组小组赛中，美国队击败斯洛伐克取得两连胜。
上一场比赛，美国队3-0战胜智利队。本场过后，美国队携手同样两战全胜的德国队从C组突围，进入到11月的马拉加戴维斯杯决赛圈。
此前，德国队先后以3-0的比分完胜斯洛伐克队和智利队。
