据美联社最新消息，据一位知情人士透露，执法部门在现场发现了一支AR式步枪。但该人士未获授权讨论调查细节。
另据美国广播公司(ABC)消息，美国特勤局人士表示，枪手当时从距离特朗普所在集会会场附近约200至300码（180米至270米）的建筑屋顶上，用AR式步枪发射了多达8发子弹。
