乌克兰开通第一条标准轨距铁路，实现与欧洲铁路直通。此前乌克兰铁路采用俄国标准，规矩1520毫米。而欧洲采用 1420 毫米的标准轨距 （中美等多数国家均采用这一标准）。
在武器去苏俄化的进程中，乌克兰也开始在其他方面与西方文明接轨了。
