阿拉伯国家总共有22个，主要分布在西亚、北非地区。
其中西亚国家有12个，北非国家有6个，西非国家有1个，东非国家有3个。
二战后，阿拉伯国家相继取得民族独立，其中巴勒斯坦是最晚宣布建国的阿拉伯国家，于1988年宣布建国。
值得一提的是，阿拉伯国家均属发展中国家，石油也不是所有的阿拉伯国家都有，只是少数阿拉伯国家才有，而且富油的国家也没有进入发达国家的行列。
其中，一直放在一块说的两伊，伊拉克是阿拉伯国家，但是伊朗并不是阿拉伯国家。
